Our History
 Amalgamated Local 9455 USWA
was formed on March 10, 2000. The original 6 units were:
- Unit 0 Superior Tube Co.
- Unit 2 Superior Metal
- Unit 3 Mayer-Pollack
- Unit 4 Columbia Boiler
- Unit 5 Neapco.
The first thing we did as a new Steelworker Local was participate
in the USWA trade rally in Washington D.C. We've since sent many members to
many educational events to help them better represent our dues paying
members. Some of these events were Leadership training, Safety Conferences,
Financial Training seminars. All units also participated in the 2001 strike
at Superior Tube Co. by walking the picket line there and helping us to win
that strike. In March of 2002 we gained 2 new units with Unit 6 Occidental
Chemical and Unit 7 Taylor Industries coming on board. The addition of
these 2 units makes us the largest Steelworker Local in Montgomery County
with over 750 members.
